Mission

OpenSats was created to support and maintain a sustainable ecosystem of funding for free and open source projects and contributors, especially Bitcoin related projects and projects which help Bitcoin flourish. For Bitcoin and other free and open source software to thrive, it takes contributors from a variety of backgrounds and industry verticals. OpenSats will fund software developers, but also designers, reviewers, researchers, educators, and others who support these FOSS tools. Bitcoin relies on many complementary technologies to succeed and reach its fullest potential. OpenSats is committed to funding Bitcoin as well as these technologies on the periphery including scaling technologies, secure communication protocols, self-custody solutions, second-layer tech, and education.
