Mission
Sharing Excess (SE) is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit that uses surplus food as a solution to scarcity. While over 47 million people in the US face food insecurity, nearly 40% of the nation's food supply is going to waste. Our mission is to bridge the gap between excess and scarcity by partnering with grocery stores, wholesalers, and farmers to deliver surplus food to a network of nonprofits, food banks, and community organizations that alleviate local food insecurity.
What a market here would mean
Launching a market for Sharing Excess creates a token on Robinhood Chain whose creator fees are paid to a vault that can only send money to this organisation's payout config. It does not make this organisation a partner, and it is not something they have agreed to.This organisation is in the provider's catalog but has not set up an account with it. Donations are still routed to it, but the final payout is completed by the provider on its behalf and takes longer.
Collected fees leave Robinhood Chain on its own canonical bridge, which has a seven-day challenge period, and are donated on Ethereum where the provider's relay is deployed. There is no faster path that does not add a third party we would have to ask you to trust. The provider keeps 3% of what arrives.
