Marine Mammal Stranding Center

Mission

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) is a 501 (c) (3) private nonprofit organization dedicated to responding to marine mammals and sea turtles in distress along all of New Jersey’s waterways, and to the rehabilitation of these animals for release back into the wild. MMSC is the only authorized rescue, rehabilitation, and release facility for marine mammals and the authorized first responders for sea turtle strandings & disentanglements in the State of New Jersey. In situations where an animal may not be released due to a chronic medical condition, every effort is made to secure a proper, enriching facility to provide lifelong care. MMSC is further committed to the preservation of our oceans and the education of the next generation through public outreach and internship opportunities.
