Mission

Universal Chan is a donation-based 501(c)(3) international Buddhist non-profit organization derived from the Chinese Chan (禪) Tradition, founded by the Chan Monk Da Xing. It operates mainly in the USA, Asia, and Europe, but we are open to be active in other countries as well. The real meaning of Chan is “Genuine Enlightenment” or even “Buddhahood Itself,” that is, Realizing the Supreme Way Directly. Here we do not do any indoctrination; it is actually quite the opposite—we advocate to let go of all doctrines and ideas so that our Inherent Great Luminous Wisdom will be able to function. That’s it! The goal of the organization and of its affiliations is to spread the Chan Teachings to deeply benefit those interested in learning the essence of the Buddha’s teachings.
