- Merced Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to AnimalsMerced, CA, US
Our mission has been to work collaboratively with the Merced Animal Control Division to save as many shelter animals as we can through rescue, foster and transport; to improve our community's environmental health and safety by reducing illnesses in feral animals through trapping and vaccinations, and to continue to spay and neuter of as many of Merced's animals as we can through our TNR program in an effort to decrease the overwhelming euthanasia rate due to abandonment, abuse and overpopulation. The Merced Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focusing on the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) Program. This is a local chapter and not affiliated with any national programs.

- Mercy Medical Center, Inc.Baltimore, MD, US
Like the Sisters of Mercy before us, we witness God's healing love for all people by providing excellent clinical and residential services within a community of compassionate care. The Sisters of Mercy were founded by Catherine McAuley, who used her inheritance to build a home for poor women and children in Dublin, Ireland and later founded the religious order known as the Sisters of Mercy. In 1874, six Sisters of Mercy arrived in Baltimore to take charge of a dispensary called The Baltimore City Hospital. Today, Mercy Medical Center is a community teaching hospital that offers award-winning primary and specialty care, operates various Centers of Excellence and community physician sites through the Baltimore-metropolitan region, and serves more than 240,000 unique patients annually.

- Metro Cat Rescue SocietyJersey City, NJ, US
Metro Cat Rescue intervenes when a cat's life is at risk. We bring inside mother cats living in the streets so their kittens can grow happy and healthy and hope for good homes. Metro Cat Rescue also coordinates the care of community cats. The dream of Metro Cat Rescue is to establish a facility to provide care for homeless kittens and cats with easily treated but contagious conditions -- those innocents that now elsewhere regularly are made to die. Sadly, a lack of funds has kept Metro Cat Rescue's goal on a distant horizon. Without the necessary resources, each day there are cats that we can't help. If Metro Cat Rescue had better facilities and a dependable used SUV or van for transportation, there's so much more that we could do.

- Mission Rabies USA IncHouston, TX, US
Around the world someone dies from rabies every 9 minutes. Over 99% of human rabies cases are caused by an infected dog bite. Once symptoms of the disease develop, it is fatal. Every year, millions of healthy dogs are inhumanely killed for fear of this deadly disease. However, this doesn't halt the spread of rabies, which causes the deaths of around 59,000 people a year – the majority of which are children under 15. The most effective long-term rabies control strategy is through vaccination of dogs in endemic areas, so we work in rabies hotspots and run mass vaccination and education programmes - protecting dogs and people. Since 2013 over four million dogs have been vaccinated against rabies and over eight million children have been taught life saving rabies prevention lessons.
